More and more information is being processed in today’s world. It is estimated that 90% of the digital data currently available has been collated over the past two years. According to forecasts by International Data Corporation analysts, by 2025 the global database will increase to 163 zettabytes – tenfold the volume of data generated in 2016. What we can witness currently is a phenomenon of an exponential growth in data volume, that is to say the data surge is no longer linear as we have been accustomed to in everyday life. In many companies, data storage has ceased to be treated as a cost item, but has become an investment in extremely valuable resources. According to research conducted by Forrester, by 2020 companies utilising data analytics in business will earn 1.2 trillion dollars in gains. The renowned analytical company Gartner emphasizes that Artificial Intelligence has become the foundation of IT systems and will gradually take over many decision processes.
